Open the Filter ShopThe size is printed on the edge of your current filter, usually as three numbers like 16x25x1 (width x height x thickness in inches). Filters are often found in a slot by the air handler or behind a return grille in a wall or ceiling. Some homes have more than one return, so check each one. If no size is printed, measure the slot and order the closest standard size.
MERV tells you how well a filter catches particles. Higher numbers catch smaller particles but can restrict airflow on some systems.
In Florida, the AC runs most of the year, so filters fill up faster than in cooler places. Check yours monthly. Most 1-inch filters should be changed every 1–3 months; thicker 4–5 inch media filters often last 6–12 months. Change more often if you have pets, allergies, or ongoing construction nearby.
Humidity, pollen and sand get pulled into your system every day. A clogged filter cuts airflow, which makes the AC run longer, raises power bills, and can cause the indoor coil to freeze. A clean filter protects your equipment and keeps your air cleaner. Need help picking a filter? Call us at 470-430-0330 or ask about indoor air quality upgrades.
