Could a mini split solve that one warm room?
Compare ductless cooling with airflow repairs and zoning before choosing a solution for a hard-to-cool space.

First, understand why the room is warm
A sunny bedroom, an addition or a converted space can have different cooling needs from the rest of a Florida home. Before adding equipment, check for blocked vents, restricted returns, duct problems and insulation issues.
If the room used to be comfortable and suddenly is not, the answer may be a repair rather than a new system. If it has always struggled, a professional can compare its cooling load with the airflow it receives.
What ductless cooling changes
A mini split pairs an outdoor unit with one or more indoor units. It delivers cooling directly to the served space without using the home's existing ducts. Many models also provide heating, depending on the equipment selected.
Independent temperature control can be useful for a room with a different schedule or comfort preference. The indoor unit needs an appropriate location, and installation requires refrigerant lines, electrical work and a path for condensate drainage.
Compare a mini split with other options
Duct repairs or airflow balancing may be the simplest answer when the existing central system can meet the room's needs. A zoned central system uses controls and dampers to serve different areas, but it requires a design compatible with the equipment and ducts.
A mini split may suit a space that is difficult to connect to existing ductwork. Consider appearance, sound, maintenance access and how the room is used. No single option is right for every home, and adding a unit without diagnosing the original problem can leave other comfort issues unresolved.
Plan for Florida conditions
Equipment sizing should account for windows, sun exposure, insulation and moisture—not just floor area. Coastal installations also need thoughtful outdoor placement and maintenance in the presence of salt air.
Ask what the installation includes, where the indoor and outdoor units will go, how drainage will be handled and what maintenance the manufacturer requires. Clean filters and accessible equipment matter with ductless systems just as they do with central AC. Tomco can evaluate the space and explain whether ductless cooling fits your home.
